Mr. Redlegs, Gapper, Rosie Red, and a dozen other large-headed characters played an exhibition broomball game on the U.S. Bank Ice Rink at Fountain Square.
UC's Bearcat, the Cyclones' Twister, Kentucky Speedway's Horsepower, the Charmin Bear, Hoxworth's Buddy the Blood Drop, Rumpke's Binny, U.S. Bank's Captain Shield, two "Flying" Pigs, and more competed in this one-of-a-kind spectacle on ice!
Mascots were available before and after the game for a meet & greet with kids & families on the Fountain Square plaza.

Belle is the diva of the Florence Freedom and sister to Liberty the Eagle. Belle is a “Peagle” or a pink eagle. She makes her home with the Freedom and loves baseball. She wishes she could talk but expresses her love by flirting with cute fans and players. As she always says, “A girl should be two things: classy and fabulous.”
Hailing from Clifton, the University of Cincinnati Bearcat is a trained broomball master. He spends his free time skydiving, lifting weights, and winning national Mascot of the Year competitions.
The Flying Pig Marathon Pig is a big presence in the middle who flies across the ice. She's a 10-year veteran of the streets of Greater Cincinnati. She's also a ball hog when it comes to broomball and isn’t afraid to ‘squeal’ to the refs if the rules aren’t being followed.
Kids love Gapper, our big, red furry friend who made his Cincinnati debut at Redsfest in 2002. Gapper is often seen out in the community visiting schools, hospitals and most recently the Ronald McDonald House.
Horsepower is Kentucky Speedway’s official ambassador of fun! Donning a red and blue firesuit, Horsepower embodies the spirit of two great Kentucky traditions -- motorsports and thoroughbred racing. His black mane is even complete with battery cables that provide just one source of his boundless energy.
This barrel-chested mascot is a favorite among all Reds fans. Mr. Redlegs gained international fame and became a YouTube sensation when his head fell off during pregame ceremonies this past season.
Rosie is the Reds' newest mascot. She made her debut in August and quickly has become a fan favorite. She's often seen dancing on the dugouts and hanging out with all her new friends and fans.
Rudy Flyer soars in at an aerodynamic 5 feet 9 inches. Known for his 1930s goggles and leather pilot's helmet, this barnstorming stunt pilot is a wild and crazy member of the Flyer Faithful from the University of Dayton. Heaven MUST be missing an angel because Rudy is here and he's ready to FLY!
Twister is the tempestuous mascot for the Cincinnati Cyclones, making mischief and delighting fans wherever he goes. His special talent is standing on his enormous head. Very comfortable on the ice, he should be a major force in today's game.
Born on Earth Day 2004, Binny the Recycling Bin proudly represents Rumpke Recycling! He enjoys spending time with paper, plastic bottles, cardboard boxes, and aluminum cans. Binny and Rumpke Recycling have been helping to keep neighborhoods clean and green since 1932.
Buddy the Beaver is the water safety mascot for the US Army Corps of Engineers. As a federal provider of outdoor water recreation hosting nearly 385 million visitors each year, the corps stresses the importance of water safety with our friend Buddy the Beaver!
Buddy has been saving lives for over 70 years! Buddy encourages everyone to give the gift of life through a blood donation. Hoxworth needs to collect a minimum of 350 units of blood each day to meet the needs of area patients.
Captain Shield was born (full-sized) on May 13, 2008. Not two years old and he is already "broomballing!" He flies from town to town boosting people's confidence in the banking industry and U.S. Bank in particular. Captain Shield doesn't believe in "recession," and he wants everyone to know that U.S. Bank is open for business and is lending!
