On Friday, July 13, 2007, Fountain Square hosted its own mini-tournament of the playground game Rock Paper Scissors.

Thirty-two participants of all ages, mostly walk-ups, competed for $300 in prizes from sponsors Rock Bottom Brewery (rock), M. Hopple Stationers (paper), and Paragon Salon (scissors).

Referees monitored the one-on-one contests according to official USA Rock Paper Scissors rules. The game is catching on and drawing attention from respected national sports media -- ESPN carried the official USA Rock Paper Scissors Championship in July 2007.

For 2008, Fountain Square Management plans to expand the tournament, adding live bands and beer and making it an after-work event.
